Installing Lamin-x Film

Tools needed:

  • ·      ·      ·      Spray bottle with water
  • ·      ·      ·      paper towels (lint free works best)
  • ·      ·      ·      squeegee
  • ·      ·      ·      razor blade
  • ·      ·      ·      hair dryer or heat gun

Clean the entire headlight lens using a spray bottle filled with water and a dry cloth. It's important to remove any excess debris and oil so the headlight filmswill fit tightly and evenly over the headlight. Clean your hands as well to prevent oils from your hands to be transferred to the film or the lens.

Film should be applied when the headlight lens is warm. If possible, install during the daytime when the sun is shining on your car and headlights. If applying during the wintertime or in an enclosed area, use a hairdryer to keep the lens warm. Hold the headlight film over the lens to make sure that it's the right size before applying.

Remove the paper backing, but try not to touch the adhesive coating on the back of the film. Spray the adhesive side with water to activate. Place the blue film on the lens. Manipulate the film until it fits completely over the lens. Use a small squeegee or rubber wedge to smooth out the film. Start in the corner and work your way around the entire area.

Spray the top of the film with water and use the squeegee to remove any air bubbles or imperfections. This will also help create a tight seal so the film is firmly in place. You may need to stretch the film slightly into each corner. Move slowly as you set the film in place.

Remove any excess or rough edges using a razor blade. Finish by drying the lens with a cloth. Use a hairdryer to set the film if you're working in cold temperatures. Repeat these steps on the other lens. Stand back two or three feet to see if any additional adjustments need to be made.

Installation will vary depending on the vehicle lights. Rigid curved will take longer and may require you to use masking tape to hold down the edges while drying. Lamin-x protective film are very forgiving allowing you to be able to pull up and reposition with a short period of time. It is recommended to install film in a warmer climate or inside a enclosed space for the film to dry easier.
